Originally these databases were meant to cover Millville, NJ, with the inclusion of items from other municipalities which were in the various sources. Starting in 1974, however, the coverage was extended to include as completely as possible the remainder of Cumberland County and some of the bordering communities in Salem, Atlantic and Cape May counties. Sources include the Millville extracts from the 1920 and 1930 US censuses, The Millville Daily Republican [MDR] (later The Millville Daily [MD] and The Daily Journal [DJ]), The Vineland Times Journal [VTJ], The Reminder, the Jack S. Kelley compilations, Millville Deaths, and several other sources. Newspapers.com includes the Millville (from March 1923- ) and Vineland newspapers in easily searchable form. Not consulted were the newspaper files from Bridgeton. Used as reference materials were the Millville city directories and the Millville High School yearbooks. In addition to incorrect information in the source material--especially those before 1900--typographical errors inevitably occur in data entry, which in this case was entirely by hand; there are also numerous duplicate entries. Much as one tries to eliminate incorrect information it will always be a problem. If you find an error or questionable information, there are scans and photocopies of the Kelley compilations and the monthly vital statistics lists from the Millville papers at the Reference Desk of the Millville Public Library, as well as copies in the Millville Historical Society.
