Millville Public Library is pleased to announce that we have reached the building stage for our expansion and renovation project. During the next few weeks Ogren Construction will begin the preliminary set up for the project, and we expect construction to extend into October of 2023. There will be periods of time when the library will have to be closed for safety reasons, but we hope to provide plenty of notice so that our library patrons will be able to plan accordingly. Do not forget that we have eBooks available through Axis 360 and Libby. Plan ahead and, if you need assistance, ask our friendly staff to help set up an account.
This project has been in the planning stages for nine years and, once we received the Library Construction Bond administered through the New Jersey State Library in 2020, we were poised financially to begin the project. The past two years have been a time of change and, although we felt confident in our estimate at the time of our request, expenses have certainly risen. This is to say, there are still naming opportunities for various areas of the library, but donations of any size would be welcome as we plan the furnishing and equipment phase of the interior.
We thank the City of Millville, both City Commission and the residents, for their ongoing support of the library. It is our mission to enrich the lives of all residents; encouraging connection and collaboration with others, providing possibilities to learn, create, and share achievements in an accessible and welcoming environment. Our expanded and upgraded new library will make it possible to realize those goals and even exceed them.
